Lake Town Kolkata

The largely crowded City of Joy has to spread its wings to shelter its inhabitants even outside the city precincts and Lake Town, Kolkata, Garia, Salt Lake City, Rajar Hut New Town are those places which have come to existence much recently to avoid population density in the city center.

Lake Town, Kolkata is a planned city and is a rather small locality located towards the north of Kolkata city. Lake Town, Kolkata has no tourist attractions except the famous temple of Dakshineswar Kali Temple, but like the rest of the regions of the city there you can find the humdrum of crowded apartments, shops, schools, hospitals, college and many more.

A lot of activity follows in the daily schedule at Lake Town, Kolkata. The important enterprises consist of the popular commercial banks, schools, college, hospitals, shops and more. Amongst the renowned institutes, East Calcutta Girls College and Daffodil Nursing are reputed no doubt.

Transport:

By road: The area is about 8 km from the city centre. One can access the place either from the northern side by taking the Jessore Road or taking the Nazrul Islam Avenue on the southern end. The adjoining regions of Lake Town include Dakshindanri, Bangur Avenue and Salt Lake. From Howrah Railway Station you can avail a taxi or a bus to reach out there, a direct bus is available from there. From Dum Dum International Airport you can take a taxi or bus is available from there also.

By Circular Railway: Bidhan Nagar Railway Station at Ulta Danga and Dum Dum metro terminal are in the vicinity and not more than three or 4 k.m. from the place. The subway terminal lies towards the north-west of Lake Town where as the railway station lies to the south-west of Lake Town.

Place of Interest:

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a famous temple situated on the bank of River Ganga and everyday gets crowded by visitors who come across from different places.

Activities:

Roaming in Lake Town and measuring the city for a long while may not entertain you much but it will be better for you to take a trip to the surrounding also. From here you can take a short trip to Salt Lake where you will find Salt Lake City Center, a popular shopping mall with lots of on-demand products and good food arrangement. In Salt Lake City there is also some places to visit such as Nicco Park, Swabhumi etc. and there is enough entertainment for the visitors which will never allow you to leave the place shortly.
