The Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai is built in the year 1978 on a small scale with a seating arrangement of around 200 people. The theatre showcases shows and plays on every day basis and opens on all days except Mondays.
The venue also holds a café shop, a photo gallery and a small bookshop. In addition to that Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai organizes workshops for children, theater festivals, literary sessions, documentary film screenings etc.
Prithvi Theatre is located at a close distance from Juhu Beach and belongs to Kapoor family, one of the founding families of Bollywood. Prithvi Theatre started by the late actor Prithviraj Kapoor has gone on to become the venue of theatrical performances with social themes.
Four generations of the Kapoor family have contributed in a big way to the Hindi film world as actors, producers and directors and the theatre opened by them has played a huge role in reviving regional, especially Hindi plays.
