The only Indians allowed into the club were servants, though this rule had to be poised for India's first home test in 1933 to allow the players to use the facilities. A shortcut lane that connects Church gate to Victoria Terminus boxes it in. there is a long in Gymkhana ground Mumbai building which serves as the lobby, table tennis area, badminton court, restaurant and lounge connects the two roads. The area between the building and the lane is a large ground.
The ground also hosts a national rugby competition and has newly hosted matches against Sri Lanka and a few other South Asian teams. It has also hosted national and international squash tournaments. It also has swimming facilities at the southern end. Until a few years back, only men could gain membership to the club.
