About 16 km from Khandala are the Karla and Bhaja Caves. These are rock-cut caves that are dated back to the 2nd century BC. These cave temples belong to the Hinayana sect of Buddhism. These temples are the oldest and the finest examples of Buddhist rock-cut temples in India.
