Khandala

Khandala a beautiful hill station situated 69 km away from Pune and 110 Km from Mumbai has a fascinating panoramic beauty . The altitude of Khandala is set at 625 meters and is located on the slopes of Sahyadri mountain range. It is a wonderful tourist location to visit during the winter and summer. It is not advisable to visit Khandala during the monsoon months. It is a marvelous tourist spot which has deep valley on one side and high hills on the other side. It is hardly 5km from another tourist spot Lonavala. Being close to Mumbai , there is tourist through out the year. Khandala houses the famous Bhor Ghat or the Khandala Ghat. Forms Of Tourist Attraction In Khandala

Though a small hill station, Khandala has many spots, which display a panoramic view of lush green hills, and milky water falls. The tourists would enjoy the scenic beauty and it has some great trekking trails around it. The major tourist attractions are the Amruntanjan point and liril water falls. The tourists staying in Khandala also visit the twin resort Lonavala. It is hardly 5 km from khandala and reachable by road. Khandala offers excursion options like visit to Tugauli Lake, Lonavala Lake, Bhushi Lake and the Walvan Dam near Khandala. These places are thronged by tourists who love to promote water tourism. About 16 km from Khandala are the Karla and Bhaja Caves. These are rock-cut caves that are dated back to the 2nd century BC. These cave temples belong to the Hinayana sect of Buddhism. These temples are the oldest and the finest examples of Buddhist rock-cut temples in India.
