Nasik

Nasik is a beautiful town with 200 temples and picturesque bathing ghats stands on the banks of the Godavari river. Although this city forms part of the Mumbai-Pune-Nasik industrial triangle, Nasik retains its status as one of the holy and ancient cities of India. Nasik is known for best quality grapes. This town has many fascinating forts and royally graceful temples that possess an aura of exuberance. Nasik houses many industries including the National Security Printing Press – the currency printer. Nasik has been named as the green belt area as it produces the maximum varieties of fruits and vegetables. It is believed that Lord Ram had spent his years of exile in the forests of Nasik.

Nasik was known as the Gulshanabad -the city of roses. Nasik has pilgrimage toursim to offer to the tourist. It is one of the four cities that hosts the massive Sinhastha Kumbh Mela once every twelve years. The Godavari River flows through Nasik from its source, which lies to the west-southwest of the city, in the holy place of Trimbakeshwar. This temple situated in Trimbak, 30 km West of Nasik, contains one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (naturally occurring Lingams) in India. The temple has beautiful carvings. There is a belief that anybody who visits Trimbakeshwar attains salvation. Nasik is a centre point between Mumbai and Pune. It is a five hour journey from Pune. Nasik is well connected by air and road .

Forms Of Tourist Attraction In Nasik

Some of the places of interest in Nasik include the Sundarnarayan temple stands on the elevated west bank of the Godavari; Deolali Camp is an important Indian Military center. Deolali camp, which is one of the oldest in India, is located 16 km away from Nasik. Deolali market is famous for shopping and , there is a famous temple of Lord Khandoba. The Kalaram Mandir built in 1782 by Sardar Odhekar of Peshawa. The idol of lord Ram here is of black colour, hence the name Kala Ram Mandir. The other places of tourism around Nasik are Pandu Lena Buddhist caves, Someshwar temple and the regional museum .
