Shirdi (Maharashtra State) is a very sacred, powerful and important place of pilgrimage
in India. One can visit this holy place easily. It is a well-developed town connected
by bus routes. It is 266km from Mumbai , 70 km from Nasik and 210 km from Pune.
Shirdi is not only famous in Maharashtra but also in India and pilgrims come from
all over India to worship Sai Baba. Sai Baba took personal interest in looking
after the local temples. Sai Baba personally took interest in the construction
of Maruti Temple and Shani Temple . Shirdi was the abode of the saint Sai Baba,
who lived here for eighty years. It is said that Sai Baba himself calls his devotees

The queues outside the mandir are endless; the throng inside is maddening, and the devotion intense. Sai Baba was known to many people around the period of 1913. He died on 15th October 1918. A beautiful statue of Shri Sai Baba was installed in 1954 . The main temple of Shri Sai Baba is known as "Buttiwada. The main attraction of this mandir / temple is that all the articles used by baba are preserved and put on display. The other places of interest around the Samadhi Mandir is Dwarkamayee Masjid named as Dwaraka Mai by Sai baba, Chavadi is a small building where Sai Baba used to spend every alternate night. The sacred fire called "dhuni" still burns here and its ash or "udhi" is smeared on devotees.
