Titwala is a small town near Kalyan , Mumbai . It if famous for making Ganesh
idols. It is also believed that Devi Shakauntala and King Dushyant got married
here . Idol from the Period of Mahabharata has disappeared . The present day idol
is put there by Peshwa Madhav Rao .Titwala has no residential hotels. Titwala,
a nondescript town 75km from Mumbai, is swathed in various hues of
green. Tourism with a DifferenceTitwala offers pilgrimage tourism. The Ganesh
temple was consecrated by sage Kanva. It is believed to be a very powerful temple.
Devotees flock in here almost every day and there is heavy rush on the chaturthi
days. It is believed that all wishes come true , if one worships the Lord Ganesh.
For instance there is a conflict between husband and wife or the couples who wants children; they will be blessed by Ganesha so the husband and wife reconcile and the couples get a baby. The temple also houses the sanctum of Lord Shiva. About a kilometer away from this town is the Kalu river. Private hotels and lodges are not available. Titwala is a third railway station from Kalyan on Mumbai-Nashik railway line. Titwala Asangaon, Kasara locals are available from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus of Mumbai.
