Banganga Festival, Mumbai is a two-day Indian classical music show held during the month of January every year. Organized by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, the festival is a must see for all culturally inclined musical enthusiasts. Accomplished artists from all over the country perform live at the venue of the Banganga festival.Mumbai the city of dreams and has distinct heritage which has its manifestation in the Banganga festival. A compliment to its legacy through rhythm and music, the festival promotes landmark sites, comprising of a number of temples, dating back to the 6th century BC.

The event also intends to raise awareness and preserve the Banganga tank and its environs.Banganga is the center of many legends.Lord Rama, on his way to Lanka, took rest on the hillock of Malabar Hill near Mumbai. His followers erected a 'Shivalinga' out of sand and worshipped it as the 'Walluka Ishawar' (Later called Walkeshwar). Since the area was near the sea and had no fresh water to douse thirst or to perform daily puja, Lord Ram shot a 'Bana' (arrow) and dug up the holy Ganga there. Banganga festival evokes the memories of the ancient fable when the sun sets in the western skies, and myriad temple bells chime the aartis. The concerts organized electrify the whole of the ambiance. Adjoining the Banganga Tank on Malabar Hill, there are numerous attractive destinations with great tourist importance like Jain temple, the Hanging Gardens, Kamala Nehru Park and Priyadarshini Park.
