Crawford market is located to the north of the Victoria railway station in South
Mumbai. The Crawford Market building is opposite to the Mumbai Police Headquarters.
This market is the most prominent market of this City. The market got its name
after the City’s Municipal Commissioner Arthur Crawford. This
market gives you a chic experience while shopping. The market is covered with
Clock tower, steeple and carvings spaces inside which make the look of the market
like something out of Victorian London. You can get Fresh flowers, meat and fish
with fruits, vegetables in this market. Now this market is renamed after the great
patriot, known as Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market. Still this market is popularly
known by its former name among the tourists and locals. Cowasji Jehangir donated
the building of the Market to the city. The construction of the Building was completed
in 1869.
