Bandipur National Park: It is situated 80 kms from Mysore and has open

Talakad: Situated on the banks of river Cauvery, Talakad is known for
its sand dunes. Various temples on the bank of Kaveri near Talakad are buried
under the sand dunes. They are excavated once in 12 years for special worship.
Shivanasamudra : Shivasamudra is the place where the river Cauvery
deluge down a deep rocky gorge and creates two stunning waterfalls called Bharachukki
and Gaganachukki. It is a splendid experience viewing these two waterfalls.
The best time to visit these impressive place situated 85kms to the east of
Mysore is the monsoon season.
Somnathpura : Located 35 kms from Mysore, Somnathpura is a star shaped
temple and is a testimonial to the exquisite Hoysala architecture. This well
preserved temple is embellished with plenty of finely sculpted friezes and panels.
Srirangapatana : The island fortress of Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan
located 15 kms from Mysore is a witness to the heroics displayed by these great
rulers. Ranganathaswamy Temple and a mosque still carry the heart-rending scars
of Tipu's last stand against the British. In Srirangapatana you can also visit
the Daria Daulat Bagh, the lush green gardens. Set amidst the Daria Daulat Bagh
is the Daria Daulat Palace which was the summer palace of Tipu Sultan. It has
a fine collection of paintings, munuscripts and Tipu memorabilia.
There are some other famous excursion places like Nanjangud, Ranganathittu
Bird Sanctuary and Melkote which are not being missed. The beauty, heritage
