ends on Vijayadashami Dasara Day. The first six days of the Dasara Festival
are celebrated in the honor of goddess Saraswati. Eight day goddess Durga is
worshipped and ninth day is dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. On
tenth day a grand procession leads from Mysore Palace and finishes up at Bannimantap.
The other significant Festivals and Events in Mysore is the Yugadi Festival,
Mysore. It is the celebration of the Kannadiga New Year day of Yugadi. The day
falls on the second half of March or early April and is celebrated all over
Karnataka with devotion and joy. On this day the dinner is particularly prepared
and it begins with jaggery and neem leaves. This symbolizes that life is nothing
but a bunch of joys and sorrows together.

Festival, Mysore. The famed Vairamudi named after the "diamond crown"
festival is held on sixth day of Brahmotsava of Lord Cheluvarayaswamy.
