Location

Bandipur National park, India is located in the state of Karnataka in the southern part. The National Park rests at the bottom of the Western Ghat Mountain on the Deccan Plateau. It is situated in the Chamarajanagar district. The National Park is exactly located at the midst of the Mysore-Ooty highway. The National Park also touches the borders of the southern states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

How to reach

The district of Chamarajanagar does not have an airport. Thus the tourists to the park have to rely on the airport located at Bangalore. The Bangalore city is 220 kms away from Bandipur. The nearest railway station to Bandipur is located at Nanjangud, which is separated by 55 kms from Bandipur. The other railway station nearer to the place is located at Mysore that is 80 kms away from the place. Bandipur can be easily reached from these places hiring a taxi or by boarding a bus. The roadways however are well connected to all the major cities in the belt. Bandipur is separated by 220 kms from Bangalore, and is just 80 kms away from Mysore and Ooty.

About the National Park

Bandipur National Park, India comes under the Wildlife Protection Act and receives funds from the organizations like World Wide Fund for Nature for its maintenance. It is famous all round the globe for its population of the Asiatic Elephants. The park host diverse kind of flora with Deciduous forests, Evergreen forests, and scrubs covering most of the area of the national park. Apart from the Asiatic Elephants the park also has diverse kind of fauna. The primary resident of the park are the tigers. The other animals are Gaur, Sambhar, Chital, Mouse, Deer, Indian Porcupine and many more.
