Dudhwa National Park, India is located in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The nearest airport for Dudhwa is Lucknow while the nearest railhead is Palia, which is 10 kms away from Dudhwa. Dudhwa became a national park in 1977 and then received the status of Project Tiger in 1988. The park shares its boundary with the Nepal border in the north, while the River Suheli marks its boundary in the south. This park is dominated by sal forest interspersed with swampy marshes. Due to the massive decline of the rhino population in India, the government of India took the step of re-introducing rhinos in Dudhwa, where they were present about 150 years ago. This project became successful and Dudhwa today has a substantial population of rhinos apart from Kaziranga. The park also has a healthy population of tigers, leopards, swamp deer and hispid hares. Another major highlight of Dudhwa National Park, India is the Bengal Florican, which is one of the most rare birds in country. The park is a paradise for birdwatchers, as it comprises of 400 species of birds. The majority wildlife in the park is concentrated around the several lakes in the park, especially the Banke Tal. The park has a core area of 648 sq.km. and is well protected from any intrusion and encroachment.

Dudhwa National park is one of the best places in India to observe the wildlife and vegetation found in the terais.
