Introduction

The Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, India Bird sanctuary is located in the Gurgaon district of Haryana. This place is approximately 15 kilometer from Gurgaon on the Gurgaon Farukh Nagar road. It houses those beautiful birds, which fill the sky and make the sky colorful. Those who are an avid wildlife enthusiast then the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, India are the ideal destination. It is a very big park, which is spread in an area of 1.43 square kilometer. Moreover this wildlife sanctuary is situated in a very strategic place. It is just 45 kilometers from the National Highway No 8. It is also sometime called as the birdwatcher's paradise. Earlier this place was a dry belt with a shallow water body, which attracted many birds that migrated from different places. Then gradually Peter Jackson transformed this place into a sanctuary. He was an enthusiastic bird watcher and thus he convinced Mrs. India Gandhi to build a sanctuary for the protection of these birds. Now this bird sanctuary stands as a favorite for tourists and as it is known it is obviously a bird watcher's paradise.

The Sanctuary

As the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, India is located in the Indian state of Haryana so the climate of this place is tropical with very hot summers and chilly winters. It has its monsoon rains in the month of July till mid September. So the most favorable time to visit this place is during the period of October to March. However, the best time is to visit in the winters because during this period the chances of experiencing the exclusive wildlife of this park are high.

The Birds

It has been recorded that Haryana itself houses almost more tan 450 species of birds. And out these species 150 species of birds have been found in the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, India. Some of these birds are resident birds while some birds migrate from places like Siberia, Europe and Afghanistan. Out of the resident birds some are Common Hoopoe, Little Cormorant, Black Francolin, Spotted Owlet etc. Apart from these birds the ones that migrate from outside include Siberian Cranes, Greater Flamingo, White Wagtail etc and many more.

Just a leisurely walk in this beautiful sanctuary will give the feel of walking in heaven with the sweet chirping sounds of these birds.
