Leh Ladakh, India cannot be compared to any other tourist places. The rustic beauty of the barren landscape of Ladakh and the remote Gompas are the typical symbols of this Himalayan country. It forms a perfect intersection of mountains that adds to the serenity of the place. Ladakh lies in rain shadow area and is often called as the high altitude cold desert of Northern India. The average altitude of the place lies in between 9000 feets to 25, 170 feets. The summers are pleasant and the best time for visiting the place with maximum temperature of 27 degrees. The winters are extremely harsh and most of the time the temperature plummets to minus 20 degrees.
How to reach:
Since the location of Leh, Ladakh, India is in the most remote corner of the Himalayas it is not that easy to reach the place. However in recent times the construction of the Leh airport has facilitated transportation. Now Leh is directly connected to Delhi by regular daily flights. The nearest railhead is Kalka, from where one has to take a bus to Manali via Shimla. From there regular buses and taxis operate on a daily basis to Leh. Apart from that Leh can also be accessed by the Srinagar highway and the Manali Leh highway. However due to harsh weather these two routes remains open only June to October.
