Getting around Pune (PMT city bus, Suburban Rail and Auto rickshaw) is comparatively easy. City Buses in Pune are run by the PMT. Although the vehicles are crowded, the system is very extensive. Every part of the city is connected by the PMT City Buses. Major city bus stations comprise Corporation, Shivaji Nagar, Swargate, Kothrud depot, Nigdi, Hadapsar, Katraj and Deccan. Shivaji Nagar is supposed to be the busiest bus stand in the state of Maharashtra .

The fare is calculated on the distance, and ranges from Rupees 4 (9 US cents) to Rupees 15 (35 US cents). Only two Pune Darshan services are air-conditioned. The Pune Darshan Bus wraps a ring of Pune and costs Rupees 100 per head. The way of the bus is Pune Station - Pataleshwar - University of Pune - Chaturshringi - Ambedkar Museum - Tilak Museum - Shaniwar Wada - Lal Mahal - Dagdu Seth Halwai Ganpati - Phule Waada - Saras Garden - Peshwa Zoo - Mahalaxmi Temple - Swami Vivekanand Museum - Snake Park - Mahadji Scindia's Chatri - National War Museum - Tribal Museum - Osho Garden Park - Aga Khan Palace - Deccan Gymkhana - Pune City Station. The tour begins at 9 AM and winds up at 5 PM.

There is also an enormous army of three wheeled rickshaws. Rickshawalas are normally very soft spoken and ready to lend a hand in Pune. There are few Prepaid Rickshaw Stands at Shivajinagar, Swargate Bus Depot and Lohegaon Airport. Yet, always demand that they use the meter and that they explain you the sheet of paper, which alter the rickshaw meter readings to the actual cost in rupees. The driver may halt to ask for directions depending on how recognizable he is with the area.

The Pune Suburban Railway connects Pune to Lonavala, a small town on the way to Mumbai . There is only one line with seventeen stations; a second monorail line is under contemplation by the government.
