Sabarimala Temple, India is a pilgrimage located in Kerala in the western Ghat mountain ranges. The temple is right in the middle of the hills. Sabarimala Temple is one of the most famous pilgrim centres in Kerala. The Sabarimala is dedicated to the Lord Ayyappa. After killing the powerful demon Mahishi Lord Ayyappa meditatated for sometime. The temple is situated at the hilltop and it is surrounded by mountains and dense forest from all sides. The temple remains unique in many respects. The temple is open to all people irrespective to castes or religion. To the east of the temple there is a temple situated called Vavarunada dedicated to lord Vavar. Worshipping is open to all people. The pilgrims fast for many days. The pilgrims go on foot to worship the God at the temple. Sabarimala Temple The holy shrine is dedicate to Lord Ayyappa is a renowned pilgrim centre in the Western Ghats. The pilgrim is mainly undertaken between the months of November and January. People wear black dhotis and carry on their heads, bundles containing traditional offerings like the coconut filled with ghee, camphor and rice. This is typically tradition and is followed by the people even today. People visit this temple regardless to their caste and religion. The Sabarimala Temple festival is held in honor of Lord Ayyapan. He was honored by all the people all over India. The Mandal Puja and the Makara Puja are the two main Puja's held at the temple. The festival is celebrated from November to middle January. Due to this great celebration, tourism is in great number in this season. During these months the devotees perform asceticism also reparation. Traveling There are buses operated by the Kerala State Road transport. There are many transport facilities available. Thus, reaching this great temple is very easy. Most of the people go trekking to the temple. Women aged between 10 years and 50 years are not allowed to trek. The devotees visiting are strictly adhered to follow the rituals. The rail and road traveling also air traveling is easily available and thus, visiting the temple is very much easy. Many people have started visiting the temple recently.
