Vizhinjam Beach was previously a business district for the Europeans,
Portuguese and the Dutch who indulged in a commercial trade relation with the
native kings of the ancient time. Vizhinjam is a beautiful coastal town set
within the Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. The vicinity areas of Vizhinjam
are home to several Ayurvedic treatment centers that attract innumerable visitors
round the year.
Vizhinjam is known as a popular beach resort which is famous for its rock-cut
temples. Take an excursion around Trivandrum and travel to Vizhinjam Beach,
which is about 2 kilometers from the area of Kovalam. Vizhinjam Beach in Trivandrum
is an outstanding seaside destination where one may come across fishing boats
thrusting each other for space. The sound of crashing waves on the rocks is
indeed a pleasant experience for one traveling to this destination. Watch out
for fishermen approaching the shores during the dusk with their respective boats,
or catch the glimpse of fisherwomen bargaining over the day's catch.
Vizhinjam Beach in Trivandrum is easily accessible from the Thiruvananthapuram
International Airport which takes almost 12 kilometers from the beach area.
The Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is yet another mode of transportation
which reaches you to the Vizhinjam in almost no time. November till March is
probably the best months to visit the Vizhinjam Beach area.
Vizhinjam is situated along the outskirts of the city of Trivandrum, which
is based almost 16 km from the City Centre and is in close proximity to the
Trivandrum Metropolitan City area. Vizhinjam is located near to the international
ship route of the region. Vizhinjam Beach is even recognized as a major sea
port area, which is about 150 meters in width. The sea is almost 23 to 27 metres
deep and aids large container ships of the area.
