Simultaneously known as Dhebar, the Jaisamand Lake in Rajasthan is 52 kilometers south east of Udaipur. The Jaisamand Lake near Udaipur was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the year 1685 that is one of the largest lakes in Asia. Spreading over an area of 36 square kilometers, the remained the largest till the Aswan Dam in Egypt was set. The 102 feet deep Jaisamand Lake has a number of marble stairs that leads you to the water. The beautiful lake is surrounded by the palaces of the Queens.
The Jaisamand Lake consists of seven islands of which all are inhabited by the tribal Bhil Minas. Enjoy the six cenotaphs that are exquisitely carved. In the center is a Shiva temple. On the north of the lake there is a palace that has an extensive courtyard while the southern end houses a 12-pillared pavilion. To offer the visitors the pleasure of recreation there are motor boats. In the summers enjoy diving and swimming in the cool waters of the lake that is great relief. Fill your eyes with the beauty of the spectacular sights of the lake, refresh your spirits with the fresh breeze and bath in majestic gory of the beautiful place. Located adjacent to the Jaisamand Lake is the Jaisamand Sanctuary that welcomes a variety of migratory birds. Considered as the best place for the wild life watchers, the sanctuary abounds wit animals like crocodiles, leopard, chinkara and wild boar.
