ATTRACTIONS IN VINDHYACHAL:

In Vindhyachal, Varanasi, one of the major tourist attractions is Sitakund. According to the mythology, Sita became thirsty at this place while Ram, Lakshman, Sita were under banishment period. In order to quench Sita’s thirst, Lakshman threw an arrow. It gave birth to a fountain. Thus in this location a temple was constructed in their memory. Thus the name has derived as one can quench his or her thirst at this place.

Another temple’s location is at a certain height from Sita Kund named Ashtabhuja Temple. One has to climb about 48 steps from Sita Kund to reach the spot. Another cave temple is situated near Ashtabhuja temple. The temple has the image of Goddess Kali. But one has to bow down in order to see the idol as the roof of the temple is very low. Apart from these temples there are a whole lot of other temples in Vindhyachal, Varanasi.

Tourist can visit Brahmakund and Agastyakund at Vindhyachal. Pilgrims can take a holy dip in the waters of these Kunds. It is the popular belief that one is purged off his or her sins after taking a holy dip in these waters. Apart from these spots pilgrims and tourists can also visit Anadamayee Ma’s temple at the Vindhyachal.

The land of Kashi which is also considered to be the abode of Gods and Goddesses is an obvious visit of all Hindu pilgrims. One who visits Varanasi cannot afford to miss the Vindhyachal, which is an important and interesting tourist spot over there.
