The international access code for Indonesia is +62. The outgoing code for the country is 001 or 008 followed by the relevant country code (e.g. 00144 for the United Kingdom). You are not required to dial the first zero of the area code. Each City/area has its own code, which are very much in use, e.g. 36 for Bali and 21 for Jakarta.
If you want operator-assisted international calls, dial 101. The local mobile phone operators use GSM networks. CDMA has not hit the market yet. Most of these cellular service operators have roaming agreements with most international operators, to provide seamless cover to their subscribers.
The United States Government also supports Emergency Communications in Indonesia, with the objective of developing an effective strategy to communicate critical emergency information to the communities. For the same purpose, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) awarded a grant to Indonesia’s Meteorological and Geophysics Agency (BMG) in 2006
