Kerinci Seblat National Park

The park is home to some 370 species of birds out of which 17 are endemic species which have made Kerinci Seblat National Park a paradise for the bird lovers. The regions where one can easily sight the birds are the lowland hill forests of the Bengkulu, Sumatra Barat and Sumatra Selatan provinces. The endemic species though are easily spotted in the higher points of the park which covers the area of slopes of mountains like the Kerinci and Gunung Tujuh.
But the Gunung Kerinci and the Gunung Tujuh trail are the most popular spots for the visitors to enjoy bird viewing in the park. The Muara Sako road has also earned popularity as a popular spot.
Among the animal kingdom Kerinci Seblat National Park is famous for the endangered species of Sumatran tiger. It is among the five of its kind species of tigers and also the smallest living tiger ion the world. The park also provides habitat to a number of other animal species.
The Kerinci Seblat National Park is situated in a unique geographical location with two mountain areas surrounding the park amidst the graben valley. The area gives an impression of depression caused when the earth’s surface subsided between the two fault lines. The topography of the land is punctuated by the Gunung Kerinci volcano, the highest volcano in Indonesia. The region is also home to some exciting wetlands.
The park provides an opportunity for the visitors to enjoy some fun filled activities like trekking and mountain climbing on the long terrains of the mountains and the slopes.
