Lombok, lying east of Bali forms a part of the southern chain of Indonesian archipelago
in the Indian Ocean. In spite of being the sister island of Bali, Lombok is different
in its culture and character. Lombok is renowned for its secluded beaches, beautiful
sunsets and tranquil ambience. It is not that happening like Bali and tourists
enjoy the blissful solitude of Lombok. Hence night life in Lombok is not very
lively and Lombok doesn't have too many night clubs and discos. The pubs and bars
are frequent hangouts of the people.
Senggigi in Lombok has the only nightclub scene with a number of discos and
clubs offering live entertainment. You can either chill out or have gala time
partying in your Hotel lounges or you can hang out in popular places like Papaya
Café and Marleys. There are also newly established private villas and
boutique hotels that offer night club facilities to the tourists of Lombok.
The most unique features about Lombok Night clubs are that you get great food,
drinks and live music! While you sit around with your friends, drink or eat
tap your feet with the rhythmic beat of the background music. The live acoustic
music from local trios or live bands changes the ambience of the entire place!
How ever these night clubs are quite expensive.
Another place where night comes alive is Gili Tarawangan that lies further
west from Lombok's mainland. Gili consists of three islands - Gili Trawangan,
Gili Meno and Gili Air that have picturesque beaches and are encircled by coral
islands. Previously Gili used to be a diver's paradise and the place is great
for snorkeling and other water sports. Currently Gilli has developed and is
often referred as the "Party Island".
Apart from a large number of luxury resorts, restaurants and bars, Gili Tarawangan
also has discs and night clubs that altogether make Gili a great holiday destination.
But these discs and nightclubs are not too many in number.
Beach parties are arranged by these clubs almost every day, where the young
crowds have unlimited fun till 4 am in the morning. Enjoy yourself at the Funk
House and the Rudy's where hard music parties are hosted with local DJs twirling
disks. If loud music turns you on then Blue Marlin Night Spot is the right place
for you.
Most places charge no entry fee except the Sahara Club, The Marleys and Gossip
(previously named as Tropicana).
