Genuk, Tembalang, Gunungpati, Mijen, Ngaliyan, and Tugu.
Geography of Semarang and its structure
Semarang was a very important port when the place was under the Dutch domination
and even today it remains as one of the most important ports of the land. It
is located on the northern coast of Java. The northern part is a coastal area
while the southern parts are known as the Candi Baru and the Candi Lama. The
major landmarks of Semarang are the large five way intersection that has numerous
shopping malls and other commercial houses built all around it.
The attractions of Semarang
The population is ethnically Chinese and so the city has got innumerable Chinese
temples that are worth visiting. These are the Gereja Blenduk, a 1753 Protestant
church built by Dutch and Sam Po Kong that was built in honour of Great Admiral
Zheng. These monuments had been built to give due respect to the heroes of the
times especially to those who had given up their lives for the sake of Indonesia's
struggle for independence.
