When to Go to Solo

Solo is the capital city of central Java province (Jawa Tengah). Central Java is one of the largest and expanding provinces in Java Island. This city is also known as the capital city of Java culture. Solo is a major city in central Java, Indonesia. Solo is the short name for Surakarta and is situated at about 100 kilometers to the South of Semarang and some 60 kilometers east of Yogyakarta.

A good time to go to Solo is during the winters. As Solo is in the tropical belt the summers are usually very warm. Generally the climate is characterized by warm tropical weather. So it is advisable to go during the winters. Though the winters are not extremely chilly you will certainly like the nip in the air. As you move up the mountains the mercury takes a dip and the cold weather is really enjoyable. There are lots of places to go for sightseeing in Solo. The dry season stretches from the month of May to October. The temperature is on the hotter side along the coastal belt. The city of Solo can have rainfall at any time during the year. But the official monsoon months set in from the month of November and continue till April. The humidity level hovers around the 70 to 90 percent mark through out the year. The high humidity causes a lot of sweat. Courtesy to the elevation in its terrain, the weather of Solo is prone to plenty of rainfalls. In fact, Solo forms a part of the wettest regions of Indonesia. As the rainfall is marginally lower during June to September, it is probably the best time to get to Solo. But environmental extremes like thunderstorms, typhoons or cyclones are quite common in Solo.
