The State of Israel a country in the Western Asian Levant, on the southeastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Lebanon on the north, Syria and Jordan on the east, and Egypt on the south-west. Eilat is the southern most city of Israel. Adjacent to the Egyptian city of Taba and Jordanian port city of Aqaba, Eilat is located at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba, which is the eastern sleeve of the Red Sea. Eilat is a small resort town located at the southern tip of Israel, on the peaceful tripartite border with Jordan and Egypt. Its main attractions are the nearby red sandstone and granite mountains of the southern Arava desert, the crystal waters of the red sea, and perhaps most importantly, the coral formations and thriving underwater life of the world's northernmost tropical reef.
Getting to Eilat (By Plane, Bus, Car) in Israel Most of the visitors to Israel arrive at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport formerly known as Lod. Ben Gurion International Airport is located in central Israel; it is a 20 minute drive east of Tel Aviv, and 35 minutes west of Jerusalem. Some international flights from Europe, Cyprus and Jordan also arrive directly at Eilat Airport or Ouvda Airport. Getting to Eilat by air Eilat is reachable by domestic air service links at Eilat Airport and Ouvda Airport which is 40 miles north of Eilat with Tel Aviv's Sde Dov airport, close to midtown in the northern part of the city and Ben Gurion International Airport. Israel's two domestic airlines are Arkia Israel Airlines and Israir. Flights operate daily, except for Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon. Getting to Eilat by bus Domestic bus services to Eilat are operated by Egged bus cooperative. Travel time from Tel Aviv to the Resort town of Eilat is approximately 4 h 30 minutes. Getting to Eilat by car Eilat is connected to the central points and northern Israel via route 90 of the Arava road.
