Elijah's Cave in Haifa is based on the opposite of the Carmelite Monastery in Haifa. From there a path is leading down to Elijah's Cave. Elijah's Cave in Haifa is also known as the School of the Prophet. Elijah's Cave in Haifa is believed to be the cave in which Elijah, the prophet, hid from the kings of Israel to save his life. According to history, Elijah happened to be a prophet. He served as the inspiration for the birth of the Carmelite Order. During the 9th Century in the reign of King Ahab, Elijah lived in this cave on Mt. Carmel. So the place is holy for all three religions of Israel.
You can find the entrance of the cave at Allenby Street in Haifa. This cave is kept open during July and August, from Sunday to Thursday, from 08:00 to 18:00 and on Friday from 08:00 to12:45. In the rest of the year, you can visit from Sunday to Thursday from 08:00-17:00, and on Friday from 08:00 to 12:45. Apart from taxi and hired car, Bus No. 3, 5, 43, 44, 45 can drop you off at the highway nearby at Af-Al-Pi, it is just a short walk up to Elijah's Cave from there. Covering for head is available at the gateway.
