attractive element of the park is the Lion's cave which lies inside the park
and is known to be the dwelling place of a pious lion which according to the
popular legends used to guard the remains of the martyrs. This cave lies to
the east end of the park which also houses an old Islamic cemetery in the grounds.
The cemetery is popularly known as the Mamilla Pool which was a tank forming
the part of the water supply system in the Old times of Jerusalem.
The park is a popular stretch which acts as a short cut route to and from the
town on foot. One can derive pleasure for the beauty and greens of the park
at the benches which are fixed besides the fountains creating a calm and quite
atmosphere perfect for taking rest. The park is also a favorite among the locals
as a picnic spot in Jerusalem. One can sit back and relax under the basking
sun and soak in the spirit of the park. It is also one of the Gay cruising areas
of Jerusalem.
