The religious land of Jerusalem has a different story to tell when it comes to
the beauty of the place. The land can easily be called as the land of gardens
for its innumerable gardens. The gardens escalate the beauty of the place which
is visited by thousands annually. The Mt. Herzl National Memorial Park in Jerusalem
is one of the parks that accentuate the beauty of the place with its impeccable
settings and unmatched greenery. The beauty of the park is underscored by the
cedars of Lebanon coupled with the native pine and the magnificent cypress trees
make the entrance of the park a royal path. These trees surround the entrance
up to the memorial and the cemetery. One can also pay a visit to the Herzl Museum
which lies to the left of the entrance to the park. The museum in the park has
come up as the new venue for the interactive introduction to life and times of
Jerusalem along with the legacy of Israel's spiritual antecedent. The garden authorities
organize tours to the parts of the gardens making the trip a memorable one.
The park is dedicated to the Budapest born Paris correspondent for a Vienna
newspaper, Theodor Herzl. The park marks the memorabilia of the great Jewish
protagonist who fought for the cause of the Jewish people who were ill-treated
throughout the world. It was in 1897, that Theodor Herzl pronounced in the first
World Zionist Congress, in Basel, Switzerland that if not in the coming 5 years
but surely in 50 years the dream for a separate Jewish state will become reality.
Ironically the United Nations approved the ideal exactly after 50 years. the
year 1904 marked the death of the great leader and his remains were brought
to Israel which were kept at the Mt. Herzl National Memorial Park in Jerusalem.
The park is truly one of the memorable landmarks in Israel which is visited
by hundreds of visitors.
