Jerusalem is a beautiful city situated on the southern spur of a plateau in Judean
Mountains. Jerusalem travel guide tells us that the whole of Jerusalem is surrounded
by valleys and dry river beds. Among the many valleys in Jerusalem, Kidron Valley
in Jerusalem holds biblical significance. A fugacious stream flows through it
with occasional flash floods in the rainy winter months. The Kidron Valley in
Jerusalem runs along the eastern wall of Jerusalem, separating the Temple Mount
from the Mount of Olives. It then continues east through the Judean Desert, towards
the Dead Sea. The settlement Kedar, located on a ridge above the valley, is named
after it. Kidron Valley in Jerusalem is the site of many Jewish tombs, including
the Pillar of Absalom, the Tomb of Bene Hezir, and the Tomb of Zechariah. There
was a time when the water of the Gihon Spring flowed through the valley, but it
was diverted by Hezekiah's tunnel to supply water to Jerusalem.
Kidron valley in Jerusalem is known as "Valley of Jehoshaphat - Emek Yehoshafat"
"The valley where God will judge" is one of the popular place of sightseeing
in Jerusalem. It appears in Jewish Eschatologic prophecies, which mentions the
return of Elijah, followed by the arrival of the Messiah, and also the war of
Gog and Magog and the Judgment day. According to the famous prophecies, in the
war of Gog and Magog, the two major coalitions of gentile nations will come
together and join forces against the Jewish state in Israel. Israel will be
overwhelmed and conquered, and the last stronghold will be Jerusalem, which
will also be conquered by the gentiles. After the gentiles finally succeed and
destroy Israel, God will commence Judgment. God will protect Israel and battle
"with diseases, rain, fire and stones" against all the gentile nations
that set to destroy Israel, and will fill the Land of Israel with their bodies
which will take the Jews seven months to bury all.
The Jews expect that the Last Judgment will take place in Kidron Valley in
Jerusalem and the Muslims also believe that a rope will extend from the battlements
of the Temple over the valley to the Mount of Olives, and the righteous will
cross over, supported by their guardian angels, while the sinners will be cast
down into eternal damnation.
