Jerusalem interests tourists all over the world. This is because of the variety of historical and religious places of tourist attractions of Jerusalem. Room of the Last Supper in Jerusalem is one such must-visit destination in Jerusalem.

Room of the Last Supper in Jerusalem is two-story architecture. It is said that in the 'upper room' Jesus shared his Last Supper with his disciples. The location of it is just above the Tomb of David and near the Dormition Abbey on Mount Zion.

However, the Room of the Last Supper in Jerusalem is not a site that can claim historical authenticity. The actual site of the Last Supper is not something very much known to us and it cannot be the present site, because, this site was built in the 12th century. But, we might say it is possible that it stands near the original site of the Last Supper.

When you go to visit the Room of the Last Supper in Jerusalem you will find that the building was constructed over the site of perhaps a Byzantine or Roman structure whose foundation goes back to about 2nd century AD. The Mount of Zion Church, which was reconstructed in the 4th century, came to be identified with the site of Last Supper from the 5th century.

This church was destroyed during the Persian attack and the Last Supper Room that is known nowadays was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century. However, this church was also destroyed and in the 14th century the Franciscans restored it.

The Room of the Last Supper in Jerusalem can be entered from an entrance having a pointed-arch, if you take the main lane from the Mount Zion and then you have to take the stairs on the left of the courtyard.

The Room of the Last Supper of Jerusalem is a beautiful room adorned with designed pillar and vaulted ceiling. An experienced person can realize that the capitals have designs from the 12th century. However, you will find some 14th century paints on the walls of the room just right of the door. In the eastern end of the room there was an altar and a choir which were destroyed during the construction of the dome over the Tomb of David which lies in the lower level. In the chamber there are relics of a mosque, like the stained-glass windows with Arabic inscriptions, the mihrab, the Arabic plaques and the Levantine dome.

Though you cannot go down to the Tomb of David, there are stairs in the southwest corner of the Room of the Last Supper at Jerusalem. You will find a dome above these stairs having marble columns one of which have a beautifully designed top which depicts pelicans pecking their parent's breasts. If you want to you can take the stairs beside the minaret and go to the roof from where you can catch the beautiful views of the picturesque location.
