The Museum of Antiquities of Tel Aviv Jaffa is located in the port city of old Jaffa in the Mifratz Shlomo street. This street is on the top of a hill in the Kedumim square. This beautiful building is modern in structure compared to the other buildings in Jaffa.
Jaffa is a beautiful city having rich cultural and historical background. To the south western part of Tel Aviv, Jaffa is situated on a hill top. According to the legends, Jaffa was named after Noah's son Japlet . The city has the oldest port in Israel. In the history of Jaffa sailors from Egypt and other countries came for trading. This city of four thousand years history is bustling with energy. It has some of the famous tourists attractions like the legendary Andromedas rock, Mahmuddiya mosque, Kedumin Square, Ramses Garden and the Antiquities Museum of Tel Aviv Jaffa.
The Museum of Antiquities of Tel Aviv is a beautiful building which was used to function as a detention center of the Turkish empire. The caverns of this building have the excavated objects on displays . There are five halls in this building where objects are stored from the thirty(30) sites of the city where excavation was carried out. The objects cover are dated from 5th century to the rule of the Arabs in the city.
The excavated objects include coins of the Arabic rule, pottery , etc. A special attention is given to the Jewish culture and presence in the city during the Arab rule. The excavated materials are translated in English for the convenience of the foreigners.
