Rubin Museum (Reuven House) Tel Aviv is dedicated to the all time famous painter of Israel, Reuven Rubin. This museum falls in the category of small Museums of Tel Aviv. This museum speciality is that it houses everything about the famous painter from his painting to his early life works. This museum also gives chance to the forthcoming artists and displays some of their paintings.
Reuven Rubin was born in Romania but came to Israel during the Ottoman rule. He studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art.This academy is the country's national school of art . Bezalel Academy of Art is located in Jerusalem which teaches all the subjects related to art.
Some time later he moved out of Israel because he cannot find artistic satisfaction in the academy and wanted to work on something new and creative. He returned to Palestine and started to work on the his concept of Eretz -Israeli style. This term means land of Israel in Hebrew and refers to the historic territory of Israel.
The themes in which he worked on was the Palestinian and Israel landscape, their people and the traditions of the place. For his work he received the Israel Prize in 1973. The Israel Prize is a prestigious award given to the Israeli citizen on working in specific feilds like science,social sciences,art, culture,communication and sports.
There are four floors in the museum. The basement of the museum has a workshop for children . The street level floor of Rubin Museum (Reuven House) Tel Aviv has the main gallery of the museum,the administrative office and the museum shop. The second floor has an extra gallery and also has a library and a reading room. The visitor can read the biography of the painter titled My Life- My Art. The original studio of the painter is on the third floor and is preserved as in his lifetime. A documentary film on the painter's life and work is also in this floor.
The museum is open on all days excepting Sundays.
