Covering an area of 250 acres, Safari Park in Tel Aviv was established in 1981 and has since then grown into one of the most loved past times of the populace of Tel Aviv. One of the reasons for Safari Park’s popularity is that the animals in the park are not under any confinement and are allowed carry on with their normal lifestyle. Most of the animals in Safari park have been brought from Africa.

The Safari Park is quite a misnomer since the park does not have profusion of wild animals as one would associate with safari. The section of the Safari park which houses the Lions is extremely popular. However it is not always that the lions oblige the visitors with an appearance. The Lion area is shut an hour before the other areas in the park. A tour to Safari Park in Tel Aviv involves driving along the 5 mile trail. Since the park is an open one, visitors are advised not to come out of their vehicles. Some of the animals visitors can expect to see in Safari Park in Tel Aviv are giraffes, gazelles, lions, rhinos, zebra, elephants, impalas, ostriches, storks and so many more. Also to be seen is a monkey enclosure which remains perennially hounded by children. Other attractions in Safari Park include an aviary area and a reptile area.

Safari Park was established with the intention of breeding these animals by allowing them to dwell in their natural habitat. So successful has been the project that Safari Park now exports animals to other countries around the world.
