Safed is a very interesting town in Israel located in one of the most wonderful parts of the country. The sea of Galilee is located to the north of Safed which is situated along the slopes of green mountains. The town has two sections, one close to the town center referred to as old area and the other section has made many new developments along the neighboring ridges and slopes of the mountain. The old town has many historic buildings for which it is quite popular. While in Safed, the tourists must make a trip to the Artists Quarter in Safed which will surely turn out to be a memorable experience. The Artists Quarter in Safed is located in the south end of the Jerusalem Street. The quarter is located in that part of the town which was occupied by the Arabs till the year 1948. Around sixty sculptors and painters live in the Artists Quarter where the houses are very low and packed closely together. Many of the artists living in the quarters have their own galleries displaying their creations. There is a common showroom for all the artists which was previously a mosque. There is a quarter which has a Museum of Printing. It demonstrates the age old tradition of printing in Safed, where the first Hebrew printing press was built in the 16th century. Moreover the museum also showcases some creations of graphic art done by famous Jewish artists. It is a wonderful place to visit which will leave the tourists with some beautiful memories to treasure forever. The Artists Quarter in Safed along with the old town of Safed forms a puzzle of narrow roads along with numerous old buildings and passages all around. There are various shops in and around the old town near the Artists Quarter in Safed where the visitors will come across various decorative items and religious goods. The Safed is a very attractive town with numerous hotels, viewpoints and picnic spots. The Jerusalem Street which is the main shopping street, has a number of cafes where the visitors can easily sip in for some hot coffee in between shopping.
