Fukuoka International Open Marathon Championship

The Fukuoka International Open Marathon Championship is held in the month of December where numerous players participate every year. This marathon also catches attention from the rest of the world competitors. Each year the marathon championship provides enough drama and excitement for its audience to enjoy and cherish. The roadsides are crowded with spectators from all the neighboring towns and cities in order to cheer for the participants and to encourage them for better performances. International Open Marathon Championship is going on since 1947 and is held at Heiwadai-Kashii, Fukuoka, Japan.

The 2006 marathon was held on December 3rd while the venue was the Fukuoka Asahi International Marathon Course ratified by the JAAF, which has an area of 42.195km. Japan Association of Athletics Federations, Asahi Shimbun, TV Asahi Corporation, Kyushu Asahi Broadcasting Co, Ltd organized this marathon.

Fukuoka International Open Marathon Championship is categorized into two groups. Group A is further categorized into three groups on the bases of distance and time.

Group A

  -  Marathon for 2 hours 27 minutes or less than that
  -  30km race for 1 hour 35 minutes or less than that
  -  Half Marathon for 1 hour 7 minutes or less than that

Group B

  -  Marathon race for 2 hours 45 minutes or less than that
