Hiroshima Museum of Art was founded by Hiroshima Bank in 1978. The museum was built as an expression of condolence to the victims of the Atom bomb attack. Museum of Art in Hiroshima houses exhibition of famous European painters like Van Gogh, Renoir, Cezanne and Picasso. Hiroshima Museum of Art's main hall has four galleries. All the galleries house paintings by various European painters under the following categories: From the Romanticism to Impressionisms Neo-Impressionists and Post-Impressionists Fauvisme and Picasso Ecole de Paris. There are separate galleries in the Annex building of the museum, which houses paintings by Japanese painters. These Japanese paintings date from the time of Meiji Dynasty to contemporary paintings. Museum of Art in Hiroshima also has a chestnut tree presented by the son of Picasso growing in the courtyard. The makers of Hiroshima Museum of Art chose 'love and relaxation' as its theme. The brilliant forms of art that have been put on exhibition in the Museum show that glory and divinity are within men's reach and can be achieved without any bloodshed.
