This is one of the few museums in Japan that is dedicated to contemporary art and it presents a panoramic view of the Hiroshima city. If the view doesn't impress you then the great contemporary artworks on display is sure to arrest your attention.
The city museum is designed by a professional architect and it blends nicely in the natural environment of the Hijiyama Park where it is located. The architecture of the place is unique in the sense that it conjures up images of a European plaza in harmony with a traditional Japanese store house also known as Kura.
Some of the major work which is on display includes three-dimensional art by Alexander Calder and Funakoshi Yasutake, prints by Jasper Johns and Ikeda Masuo, and pieces by Andy Warhol and Lee U-fan.
The museum also exhibits things which are related to the World War II in general and Hiroshima in particular.
So if you are an art lover more so a contemporary one then the museum is one place which you should include in your travel itinerary.
