Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum

Founded in 1968, the Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum is an urban art museum located next to Shukkeien Garden in downtown Hiroshima. Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum is regarded as one of the largest of art museums in Western Japan. Most of the art works present in the Museum can be dated to 1920's and 1930's.

At present the Museum's permanent collection is composed of over 3,400 pieces of art, all of which are associated with Hiroshima Prefecture. It also has an admirable collection of Modern European Art, which includes works of Dali and Magritte. One of the founding aims of the Museum is to promote the culture and art.

Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum can easily be reached by a streetcar or by bus; in both the cases the stop is Shukkeien-mae stop. You can also accessed Prefectural Art Museum by train and the most nearest station is Hiroshima Station.

There is an entrance fee for entry in the museum. Adults are charged 500 yen as entry fee while for the university students it is 300 yen. Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum is open on all days except for Monday and the opening hours are from 9am to 5 pm.
