Ever since the atomic bombing in 1945, Hiroshima has been pushed into a forced wedlock with history. In the years that followed inviolable union has spawned several museums in the city.

Hiroshima is not only the popular city of Japan but is also well known throughout the world as the first victim of the devastated nuclear explosion. Most of the Hiroshima Museums are either dedicated to the victims of the bombing or aim to capture the horrors of the disaster and to promote the message of peace.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
Located in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in central Hiroshima, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum aims at underscoring the futile and destructive nature of atom bombs and promotes the abolition of nuclear weapons throughout the world.

Hiroshima Museum of Art
Hiroshima Museum of Art was built to express condolence to the victims of the atom bomb. It has an impressive collection of French impressionist artists like Van Gogh, Renoir and Picasso.

Hiroshima Children's Museum
Hiroshima Children's Museum is a fun place where the children can get over their disinclination towards science and learn about various scientific ways, which we can use in our daily lives.

Hiroshima's Planetarium
Hiroshima's Planetarium lies on the 4th floor of the children's museum. It has a massive dome with a diameter of 20 meters. The Planetarium projects a dazzling display of constellations in the night sky.

Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum
Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum boasts of an impressive permanent collection of modern European art and many Japanese artists as well. The Museum lies adjacent to Shukkeien, a renowned garden in downtown Hiroshima.

Mazda Museum, Hiroshima
Mazda Museum of Hiroshima houses vehicles of the Mazda Company from its early period. The Museum organizes free tours which begin every weekday at 9.30 am and 1.00 pm in Japanese and at 1.00pm in English.

Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art
Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art was established in 1989. It was the first public art museum in the country, which was exclusively for contemporary art. The exterior design of the Museum is in perfect harmony with Hijiyama Park, which lies near it.

Hiroshima's Transportation Museum
Hiroshima's Transportation Museum is solely devoted to contrivances used for transportation. The Museum is the best place to learn about planes, trains, ships and trains. The Museum also offers driving simulation.
