Asa Zoo Hiroshima

Asa Zoo is a popular tourist attraction of Hiroshima. This place is frequented by large numbers of tourist every year. Asa Zoo also known by the name of Asa Zoological Park was opened in the year 1971. Initially, the city authorities of Hiroshima managed the Zoo. However, later in the year 1986, Hiroshima City Zoo Association took over the managerial responsibility of the Asa Zoo.

The Asa Zoo is around 25.6 hectares and has approximately 1,500 land animals and around 5000 fishes as well. In the zoo, there is a specific region for the Baboons known by the name of Baboon Mountain that is the main attraction point along with others. The Asa Zoo is also home for many snakes and nocturnal animals. The nocturnal animals are kept inside an old building located inside the Zoo. There is a Pichiku Park as well inside the Zoo. This place consists of Guinea Pigs, Siberian Chipmunks, etc. The other animals that are present in the Asa Zoo are tigers, bears, lions etc. There are Red Pandas and Eurasian River Otter as well.

The operating hours of Asa Zoological Park is from 9.00 am in the morning till 4.30 pm. The Asa Zoo is open on all days of the week except on Thursdays. If a national holiday falls on Thursday then on the previous day the Zoo remains closed. The entry fee for adults is 500 Yen and 170 Yen for children.
