The Sandankyo Gorge is nearly thirteen kilometers deep and set in the primeval forest which is interspersed with some magnificent stops, which provide some of the best sights that you, can ever get in and around the city of Hiroshima.

There are five magnificent scenery spots in Sandankyo Gorge, which are known as Kurofuchi (black rim), Sarutobi (monkey jumps), Nidandaki Fall (double layered fall), Sandandaki Fall (triple layered fall) and Mitsudaki (tri-fall). Other than these five scenic spots, which are on the tourist map, there are numerous small sights, which you will come across during your visit to this national scenic spot in Hiroshima. Basically the gorge has been formed due to the erosion of limestone plateau.

Hikers also prefer this place for hiking activity. Though you can visit the place all throughout the year but it is highly recommended that you make a trip to the place either in spring or in autumn to enjoy and lap up the greenery of the place.
