As such Japan has derived its own range of exclusive cuisine. Apart from its delicious mainland cuisine, Japan has also inherited cuisines of other countries to offer to its native people and a wide and fulfilling spread to its visitors as well. Yoshoku dishes in Japan refer to western food but not western food in the literal sense. These dishes have been given a western outlook but cooked and served in the traditional Japani style. The dishes are tasty and colorful and are a feast both for your taste buds and eyes. The Japanese restaurants known as Yoshuko-Ya specializes in preparing and serving these western dishes with a Japanese flair. Popular Yoshoku Dishes in Japan - Korokke- Not born in Japan, this western dish was invented here and given a Japanese flavor. The dish has its origins in the croquettes which came to Japan in the 19th century. Korokkes can be made out of different fillings which are then coated with bread crumbs and deep fried in hot oil. The two most popular types of Korokke happen to be the White Cream korokke and Meat Potato Korokke. - Hayashi Raisu- This dish consists of sliced beefs cooked with onions in a tangy sauce made of Soya sauce and ketchup. The preparation is served on top of cooked rice. - Omuraisu- A simple yet very tasty dish is Omuraisu. The dish comprises of cooked rice wrapped in a thin omelet and served with tomato ketchup. - Hamubagu- A hamburger in Japanese style, with all the ingredients but without the bread. Definitely a hamburger with a difference.
