The Kobe Maritime Museum, located in Meriken Koen in Kobe, Japan looks impressive with its roof made of white pipe. This white-pipe construction imparts a sailboat-like look to the building. When you look at the museum you are reminded of sails and waves! Together with the view of the Port Tower and the neighboring hotel, the museum looks stunning in the night-light. Once you visit Kobe Maritime Museum, you will get to know about the history the port of Kobe and information about other marine objects. Displays - The Kobe Maritime Museum displays different kinds of models of vessels, ranging from the ancient age to modern hydrofoils. The most noteworthy among these are Oshoro Maru model, one of the earliest sailing vessels of Japan that was embellished with rubies, pearls, gold and silver. The first floor of the museum houses a HMS Rodney, the British flagship that directed a 12-ship flotilla into Kobe Harbor on 1 st January 1868. This auspicious date marked ending of Japan's isolationism after 250 years. The most interesting exhibit in the Kobe Maritime Museum is the Submarine Travel 2090 that transports you to the centre of a biosphere on the sea floor. Apart from this, other displays include superconductivity-electromagnetic powered ship, objects relating to the Kobe earthquake disaster (in the 2 nd floor) and other material relating to the history of Kobo harbor and et cetera. - Timings- 10a.m. - 4.30p.m- Tues –Sun.
