Mt Rokko Kobe

Mt. Rokko, the highest peak of Rokko mountain range that blesses Kobe with a beautiful panoramic view, is a prime tourist destination. This highest mountain peak towers to a massive height of 931 meters. Mt .Rokko with its pleasant green backdrop offers innumerable spectacular sights. As the sun gradually sinks spreading its glowing red light that veils the mountains, the beauty of the mountains increases manifold.
History
Arthur Hasketh Groom first opened the mountain to public in 1901. Though not a native Groom was a long term resident of Kobe.
Attractions
The Mt. Rokko peak is a heaven for photographers as they can find innumerable scenic views from mountaintop. Have a look at the Hanshin Region. See and enjoy the diversified exhibits of the botanical garden. See some of the exotic pants that you shall find in this part only. The garden located at a height of 865metres was opened in 1933. Enjoy the beauty of the colorful flowers.
One can also go for a tour across the Music box museum. On the west side of the mountain is the Rokkosan Pasture that is a beautiful pasture area for sheep, donkeys and other pasture animals. Play at the golf course stationed at the mountaintop that is recognized as the first golf course of Japan.
In addition to all these enjoy a tasty dish at the Rokko Garden Terrace that includes a number of restaurants and shops. It also houses an observation deck. There is a circular bus line that connects the various attractions with the top stations of the Rokko Cable car. If you visit the place in summer then you can enjoy Alp festival.
How to go there
If you are coming from central Kobe then from the Sannomiya Station take the Hankyu Kobe line to the Rokko station. From Arima you can take a Rokko Arima Ropeway that takes 12 minutes and charges 980 yens.| Hotels in Kobe | |
