Folk Museum, Kyoto is tucked away deep in the heart of Nakasu-kawabata. The city of Kyoto is known for its architectural and historical wonders. This small museum attracts a lot of visitors traveling to Kyoto.

The Folk Museum in Kyoto is a great destination for history buffs. The building which houses the Folk Museum is one of the very few structures in Fukuoka that has survived since the Meji Era. The Meji Era was during the period of 1868-1912. Once you enter the museum, you can get a glimpse of the Meji Era which was tumultuous period in the history of Japan. The museum exhibits materials related to archeology, history and folk traditions of this era in a chronological order beginning from the Jomon Period. Local crafts are displayed here very well. You can also witness live craftsmen showcasing their skills. Visitors, who can understand the Japanese language, will find the audio-exhibits devoted to the local dialect particularly interesting. There is also a souvenir store where you can purchase every type of craft produced in Fukuoka.

The Folk Museum in Kyoto was the former home of Nagashima and has been designated by the prefectural government as a tangible cultural property. Tools and implements used in everyday life are on display at the residence. A workshop is located also within the premises where visitors can try their hand at paper making and making soba or buckwheat noodles.

The museum is open everyday from 9AM till 4:30 PM from Tuesday to Sunday. The museum is closed every Monday. The museum also remains closed during the end of the year. In order to obtain admission to the museum all visitors must pay a fee. The admission fee for adults is 200 Yen. Middle school students and children younger are allowed to enter by paying an entry of 100 Yen per head.

Folk Museum in Kyoto is a popular attraction in the city of Kyoto. It attracts numerous tourists who are bowled over by the heritage that is preserved in the museum. A visit to the museum is a must for all history buffs as it showcases the Meji Era.
