The city of Kyoto features many restaurants serving international cuisine including continental, English and western. The French Restaurants in Kyoto offers a wide array of mouthwatering dishes and sumptuous spread along with world class drinks and cocktails.

Cordon Bleu is said to be as one of Kyoto's best French-style restaurants. The food, which combines the best of East and West is prepared using the freshest ingredients and served on stylish Japanese ceramic tableware.

Other French restaurants include:

Manyoken
French dinners are prepared by chefs who serve the Emperor on his visits to his old capital. Enjoy the luxury fit for a king. Lunch courses begin at JPY5, 000 with dinner from JPY10, 000. Beef, tongue and oxtail feature as specialties along with pate and king prawns in American-style spicy sauce. There is a full a la carte menu and a variety of quality French wines.

Le Bellecour
This elegant French restaurant is perfect for business or pleasure; it is run by Tomoyuki Matsui. The restaurant provides you with fine food and a good wine list.

Bistro Pompadour
Bistro Pompadour, situated on the way north to Kinkakuji Temple before the Waratenjin intersection, is a small, casual bistro serving fine nouveau cuisine French food.

Au Petit Pied
The small French restaurant is noted for its good food and excellent value for money. It is a one-man operation. Yoshikazu Kawabata serves up a choice of 10 hors d'oeuvres and main courses such as roast duck, steak or lamb stew, depending on the season.

Nanabunnoichi
Recently opened near Kinkakuji, Nannabunnoichi serves good French-inspired Mediterranean cuisine with a subtle nod towards Japanese flavorings. The decor is quite modern, as befits a new restaurant, featuring clean lines and plenty of light. The restaurant is a good place to treat a special friend. The menu is a delight of delicate seafood, meat, vegetable and pasta dishes, complemented by a full bar. Excellent service is provided, too. Lunch sets come cheaper than dinner, as is usual in Japan.

Tivoli
Using organically produced ingredients, such as Tamba chicken, Omi (on Lake Biwa) beef and fresh Kyoto vegetables, Tivoli offers a fine natural fusion of Kyoto and French cuisine. You will find the atmosphere relaxed enough for comfortable dining, but elegant enough for that special date. Lunch sets start from JPY1, 500, steak sets from JPY2, 500 and original organic wine from JPY600 per glass. Set prices are higher in the evening. A la carte is an option, too.

Some other restaurants are Ruisseau, Bistro Cerisier, Hamac de Paradis, Brasserie Café Paris, Pascal Peignaud, Ripple, Gargantua, and Comme Ci Comme Ca
