Tokugawa Art Museum Nagoya

The artifacts in Tokugawa Art Museum have been placed in six different Exhibition Rooms.
Exhibition Room 1
This room houses the weapons and war gears of the Samurais. The Gusoku style helmets and armors are very famous among the visitors. There is also a long Tachi Sword, the scabbard of which is studded with precious stones and embellished with gold work.
Exhibition Room 2
This room has different teacups and bowls, most of which are from 16th century Japan. These items were once in the possession of the Okaya Family.
Exhibition Room 3
The exhibits in the rooms are simple household items belonging to both Chinese and Japanese royal families centuries ago. There are items like paperweight, incense burner, inkstone screen etc.
Exhibition Room 4
The room is full of exhibits that are related to the Noh, or the Japanese musical drama. There are Noh masks made of cypress wood belonging to the 17th century. Also on display are the costumes worn during the Noh performance.
Exhibition Room 5
The room is filled with items of personal items of amusement and household pieces of décor belonging to the royals. Most beautiful is the jacket with designs of aoi leaves- the jacket was worn by the First Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.
Exhibition Room 6
The room is diffused with colors emanating from the attractive paintings that once adorned the palaces of the aristrocrats. The twelfth century Illustrated Handscroll of The Tale of Genji on display in the Tokugawa Art Museum is regarded as the masterpiece of Japanese Art.
