The latitudinal location of Nagoya reads 35¡ 1'50" - 35¡15'26"N and its longitude extent is between 136¡47'41" and 137¡ 3'50"E. Nagoya occupies a total area of 326.45 sq.km. Primarily a low lying area, the highest point in Nagoya is 198.30 m above the ground, while the lowest point in the ground is -1.73 m.
Nagoya lies on the Pacific coast in the Chuuba region. It is situated at a distance of over 350 kilometers from Tokyo and from the other important cities like Shinkansen and Osaka are one hour and two hours respectively.
The Nagoya belt forms the Nobi Plane that is considered one of the most fertile places in Japan. Three large rivers course across Nagoya; there are few smaller rivers as well.
Nagoya's area may be divided into 185 sq. km of privately owned area, 17 sq. km of agricultural land and 143 sq. km of agricultural.
Nagoya's proximity to the Pacific Ocean has resulted in its experiencing a pleasant weather most time in the year, except during the months of January and February when it receives snow. The hottest month in Nagoya is August when the temperature reaches the over 35 degree centigrade. January is the coldest month, the temperature in this month dips precariously below the freezing point.
