Sakae Nagoya

Sakae is one of the downtown districts in Nagoya, the fourth largest city in Japan and is located no further than couple of kilometers east of Nagoya station. The unmitigated outbreak of prosperity in Nagoya has had it repercussions felt in Sakae too.

One of the most recognizable landmarks of Sakae is the Nagoya TV Tower, which is considered to be the oldest in Japan. The TV Tower was erected in 1954 and comprises a 180 meters tall TV antenna. There is an observation deck on the tower which provides an impressive vantage point to observe the city.

Visitors to Sakae should not miss the latest addition to the district's attractions- Oasis 21. This is an extremely posh underground shopping complex and was launched in 2002. Oasis 21's uniquely designed roof has already fetched an award for it. Water Spaceship, as the roof of the complex is called reduces heat transfer and also collects the rainwater that is used for the lawn park.

Also located in Sakae is Nadya Park, which is an ultra modern skyscraper museum cum shopping complex. The Park also houses the International Design Centre Nagoya on its fourth floor and the Loft Departmental Store, which is a must for all those who love shopping.

Nagoya Sakae is a wonderful place for shopping as well as night out. The district is flooded with visitors pouring in from the neighboring districts and is never caught without any activity. Some of the popular shopping places in Sakae include Mitsukoshi and Maruei, which deal in clothing, cosmetics and electronic products.

Sakae is famous for its attractive nightlife. Come night and the district jives along with the multitude of clubbers. Some of the more frequented nightclubs include iD Café, C.R.E.A.M. and Ozon & Spiral. Amongst the numerous hotels in Sakae, some of well known ones are-Nagoya Tokyu Hotel, the Nagoya International Hotel and the Creston Hotel.
